An interactive tool project exploring the mechanical principles
of edge-welded bellows and automating their specification design
The heart of bellows design is fatigue-life prediction. Using S-N (Stress-Life) and Buhler’s curves, we calculate the expected cycle life as a function of the stroke ratio.
A bellows behaves as a precision spring. We analyze how the ratio of plate thickness (t) to span (w) affects the spring rate, optimizing the load on the overall system.
A study of the tensile strength and Young's modulus of specialty alloys — such as AM350, Inconel 625/718, and Titanium — that withstand extreme environments of high heat and corrosion.
Use the tool below to design a virtual bellows specification.
